Mrs. Lopez had serious health concerns and sought help at HealthVisions Midwest. She was directed to a HealthVisions-trained Community Health Worker who taught her how to make healthier choices. Mrs. Lopez changed her diet and lost 20 pounds, which lowered her blood pressure. This inspired her family to join her, and now they all work together to lead healthier lives. According to the National Institutes of Health, people of color are 30 percent more likely to die prematurely from heart disease, twice as likely to die from stroke, and are 60 percent more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes. That’s why HealthVisions Midwest focuses on community health to empower and support people to lead healthier lives. Since 1998, HealthVisions has provided health and wellness information and resources to thousands of people in three locations: St. Clair County, Illinois, and Allen and Lake counties in Indiana.
